A WordPress 101 & Website Update
Liz: [00:00:06] Hey there! Welcome back to 60 Second Marketing, I’m Liz Hersh I’m here with Sandro Galindo. We are the only podcast that gives you marketing tips and tricks in the time it takes to clear out your spam folder. Today Sandro is going to be giving an update on WordPress and telling you about what he’s learned over the last couple months.
Sandro: [00:00:22] Thanks Liz so I have a twofold update for our listeners. First we have a new Web site. Finally! It’s not fully done yet but our Web site are it’s not fully done yet but our Web sites ever fully finished. No not really they’re always evolving. Our old site was a single page built through Squarespace and gave basic information. Our new Web site is built through WordPress and it’s got every episode both in podcast or audio form and a transcription of each podcast so you can read it or search through the site for specific episodes. It’s also pretty fast and mobile friendly as Liz & I are trying to rank as high as possible on Google for our marketing expertise. And also we’ll be able to properly link to many of the services, products and people we refer to here. In addition it’s something Liz & I have been saying for a while, if you send us a question we’ll give you a shout out and link to your site from our site. Now we can do that.
Sandro: [00:01:19] The second part of this being a twofold update episode is that as I mentioned I built the site on wordpress. It’s my very first WordPress website and all because of the WordPress camp or WordCamp I went to a Kent State University here two months ago. I learned a lot. A lot of cool people and realized I needed to start building sites using this open platform. We’ll link to episode 232 where I go over my experience in the show notes and on our new Web site. But my follow up is that I still have a lot to learn about WordPress.
Sandro: [00:01:48] We’re slowly adding every episode to the site. For now I think we’ve got 20 of them up there. And I’m also still checking out a lot of the great plug ins. Some of my favorite already are Yoast, of course, it seems to be the most popular SEO plugin Updraft for backing up our site and Sucuri for security features. And I also love love the schema plugin for automatically creating schema code for our pages and posts. There’s definitely more to come as I keep improving our Web site. But for now head on over to 60 second marketing dot net to check it out. And a big shout out to Trint. T R I N T Dot com for their awesome transcription services.
Liz: [00:02:28] I think we’re such a great case study in terms of starting out super simple on Squarespace with a one page website. That was what we could manage to start and now we’re expanding into a WordPress website which I love. But with that comes a little more work but also some more opportunities. So we’ll have future updates on that. Thank you for joining us. Don’t forget to subscribe on your favorite podcast app. Send us your questions and we will give you a shout out. Thanks so much. See you next time.
