A couple of weeks ago Facebook released its earnings for the most recent quarter. In the past we’ve talked about Facebook approaching peak ad load. While we may not be there yet, you should know what’s coming in terms of Facebook ads for your small business.
Liz: [00:00:04] Hey there, welcome back to 60 second marketing I’m Liz Hersh.
Liz: [00:00:07] I’m here with Sandro Galindo. We are the only podcast that gives you marketing tips and tricks in the time it takes to throw in a load of laundry. Today Sandro has an update on the Facebook’s earnings call and how it could affect you.
Sandro: [00:00:22] Thanks Liz. We just want to record a quick episode to let you know. Facebook announced its earnings a couple of weeks ago. Couple of Wednesdays ago and one of the more interesting things I found in their notes and in what they said was that while yeah they are reaching peak ad load and they probably already reached it and that is the number of ads they can show you in your news feed before you really start to get annoyed. One of the things they’re finding is that while they’re running just the rate of growth of number of ads is slowing down the price of ads is rising. As a matter of fact the prices went up 24 percent on average per click and purview for all Facebook as in the last quarter. And if you know anything about Facebook advertising or if you’ve done it before you know Christmas time ad prices really spike up. So if you have a marketing budget if you have a Facebook budget you may want to just realize that your budget may not be going as far pretty soon as Facebook does reach peak ad load or you may want to begin to consider adding more money to your Facebook ad budget especially for the coming holidays when prices are highly expected to spike. Now if you’re an investor you shouldn’t be too worried because not only are they looking at other options for ads they’re creating new TV shows just for Facebook is going to be putting ads in there. And of course they own Instagram and they’re going to be putting ads in groups, now it seems like which is kind of sad because I love that there’s no ads in groups and they’re also going to be putting ads in messenger. So there’s no places for ads. But in terms of the I mean their primary source of income Facebook news feed. Expect prices to go up.
Liz: [00:02:07] I almost forgot about messenger I forgot ya does so still so many places to advertise. Which is which is good but just allocate the right budget so you’re reaching your audience.
