We can hardly believe it’s already November. The holidays are right around the corner. Today Liz gives us a few tips to help you plan & prepare for the 2017 holiday season.
2017 Holiday Marketing Tips
Sandro: [00:00:03] Welcome to 60 Second Marketing my name is Sandra Galindo and I am here with my co-host Liz Hersh. Together we’re the podcast that helps your small business grow through Facebook advertising, Google AdWords, reputation management and so much more all the time it takes to create a new password for your work email. Today Liz is going to give us holiday marketing tips, the 2017 edition.
Liz: [00:00:25] I can’t believe we are already in mid-October at Hersh PR we’ve been in the holiday mindset for a few weeks now working on campaigns and holiday cards for clients. If you haven’t started planning for the holidays it’s not too late but you definitely want to get moving soon. I wanted to share just a couple of quick tips. Some of this we’ve actually kind of been talking about throughout the year but it definitely is worth repeating. So first reminder don’t force it. Don’t force a campaign or promotion. If it feels forced your potential customers or your existing customers they’re going to see that. So don’t feel like you have to do a Black Friday or Cyber Monday. Be creative and do something that no one else is doing. Create your own promotion that can take place December 1st or something like that. There’s just so much noise so much going on to try to find space in Black Friday or Cyber Monday or whatever it is you know it can be really difficult for a small business owner so get creative and don’t force it.
Liz: [00:01:28] The next thing I want to remind everybody and we’ve been talking about this throughout 2017 is is to plan for an increase in spending especially on Facebook if that’s where your audience is and you’ve been reaching them on that platform. We’ve talked about how ad space inventory is getting tight. Prices are going up and so be prepared for that. Be prepared to invest a little bit more to reach your target market.
Liz: [00:01:55] And my final tip again we’ve talked about this before is set goals and track the results. Don’t do a campaign just for the heck of it. You know you might set a goal for sales or you might have a goal to build your subscriber list by 10 percent, 20 percent. I mean there’s a lot of different ways that you can have success with campaigns. But just remember to set a goal track the results and see how things pan out for you in 2017 so that way you can make changes for 2018.
Sandro: [00:02:22] Exactly. That’s I love that last tip you gave especially a lot of people don’t take notes for year over year comparison or things to remember for the next year.
Liz: [00:02:30] And I always push for that. You’ve got to do it.
