3 Tips to Film Better Live Video

Sandro: [00:00:04] Welcome to 60 Second Marketing my name is Sandro Galindo and I’m here with my co-host Liz Hersh, together we’re the only podcast that helps your small business grow through social media, SEO, reputation management. So much more the time it takes to realize there’s nothing on TV. Today Liz is going to give us three more things you need to film better video.

Liz: [00:00:23] Back in episode 163 I gave some tips on how to film better live video. Today I want to build on those tips. My first one is to have a clear purpose for your video. Don’t simply go live for the heck of it. You should have a good reason to go live. Do you have a specific call to action? Do you have a product you want to talk about? Some of the best live videos are the brands that are doing regular weekly Q&A sessions or live tutorials. In these examples it’s very clear what the purpose is and they have something to promote on a regular basis.

Liz: [00:00:54] My second tip is to know your audience and test different platforms. In yesterday’s episode Sandro mentioned the four big live video platforms. I think most small businesses will be really hard pressed to utilize all of them effectively without spreading themselves too thin. Plus you might find that your target audience prefers YouTube over Facebook or Facebook over periscope again just make sure you know your audience.

Liz: [00:01:19] My final tip is to define how you will measure success. I did some research into companies and brands that are using live video. One article touted a brand that had received well over 3 million views on one video and that’s great but what’s the end result? Ask yourself if you got 3 million video views how would you capitalize on that and measure the results? Success is going to be very different for every company or brand. And I’m not saying you have to tie it directly to a sale because there is tons of value in building awareness and engagement but define all of this from the start.

Sandro: [00:01:54] I love these tips Liz. Too many people are just jumping in a live video without a point or without a reason for being there. Thank you for joining us.
