Liz’s Best Marketing Advice
Sandro: [00:00:06] Welcome to 60 Second Marketing. My name is Sandro Galindo. I’m here with my co-host Liz Hersh. We bring you news and ideas on everything from SEO, social media, reputation management, more, in the time it takes to enjoy your morning coffee. Today Liz is going to give us the best marketing advice she’s ever received.
Liz: [00:00:24] The best marketing advice I’ve ever received sounds a little weird but I will explain it. I was told to not be afraid to fail forward. And essentially what this means is, you can’t be afraid to put yourself out there, test a message, test a campaign. Yeah sure, you might stumble along the way and figure out some things that do and don’t work. But if you continue to move forward you’re ultimately going to achieve success.
Liz: [00:00:51] And let me put this in perspective for you. Multimillion dollar and billion dollar companies have a budget to hire an agency. They can put together a couple different campaigns that they can test in front of a focus group. So when they actually implement a campaign they have a pretty good sense of how it’s going to perform. But as smaller businesses we don’t necessarily have the budget to do that. We have to work with the knowledge and the data that we have available to us, roll out a campaign, and like I said test it, figure out what’s working, what’s not. You’re going to fail along the way and that’s OK. But if you keep pushing forward again you will achieve success. So I know it sounds odd to suggest that you fail at something but sometimes through failure we learn the most about ourselves and about our businesses. So keep pushing forward to achieve the success you’re going for.
Sandro: [00:01:43] There’s the old saying, “Fall 7 times, get up 8.” Sometimes we just have to fall once. At the very least, we have to get out there and do that. Thanks so much Liz.
