Today Liz is going to give us some tips to customize your message on Facebook.

Liz: [00:00:25] This episode is part two in our series on how to customize your message for different social platforms. Remember that you don’t want to just copy and paste the same message onto every social platform you want to be mindful of the nuances of each audience. Today I have some tips for organic Facebook posts which you can obviously boost & target accordingly, depending on who you want to reach. Facebook is becoming more and more visual. Not quite to the extent of Instagram but it’s getting there. There are quite a few photos and videos being shared every day on Facebook. So strong visuals really are a must. And while the character limit is actually quite long on Facebook it’s 63000 plus characters which is crazy. Studies show that shorter Facebook posts actually generate more of a response so keep that in mind and by shorter I mean 100 characters or less. I should also point out that although you can use hashtags on Facebook they are not as common. So my recommendation is that one or two is really plenty in terms of hashtags. Facebook is definitely a place where you can share news articles that might be relevant to your audience. Those tend to get a ton of traction and engagement on Facebook but not so much on Instagram. So again you have to be very mindful of the platform and the message and how you want to encourage engagement on each of these platforms so yeah little different than Instagram but still very focused on the visuals so keep that in mind as you’re building your social content.
