Tips to Customize Your Message for Google Plus

Sandro: [00:00:04] Welcome to 60 Second Marketing I’m Sandro Galindo and I’m here with my co-host Liz Hersh, together we’re the podcast that gives you actionable marketing ideas and tips to help your small business grow in the time it takes to find where you parked at the airport. Today Liz is continuing her series on how to customize your message for various platforms. Today she’s going to tell us how to customize your message for Google Plus. Yes that’s right. Google Plus.

Liz: [00:00:28] You might be asking yourself “who cares about Google Plus?” and share from a usage perspective, it’s pretty low on the list but you have to remember that it’s still a social channel that we want to give some attention to. And I will explain why. And just a quick recap too, we also want to remember that different social channels do have different audiences and we want to be mindful of the message we’re publishing on each channel or platform.

Liz: [00:00:54] So my first tip is to be very mindful of the words you’re using on Google Plus. Google still scans Google Plus. So having a status update with strong keywords could help you appear organically in search results. And Sandro has experienced this for some of his clients so it’s definitely important again to use the right keywords. Second you have a lot of good real estate for quality images. So make sure you take advantage of this and this is not all that different from some of the other social channels we’ve talked about like Facebook and Instagram. The visual really does matter. Make sure you are using a compelling and related image to whatever you’re sharing on the platform. And then third Google has a great events tool that allows you to share the who, what, when and where for your upcoming event and again Google loves its own products so it’s going to scan and it’s going to potentially rank these in organic in the organic search results. So if you are a business that is hosting events make sure in addition to Facebook events that you are publishing them on Google Plus as well.

Sandro: [00:02:07] Awesome tips Liz. I still publish Google events for one of our clients. We still have people who see our stuff on Google because of our Google Plus events. Thank you Liz.
